Educational and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or another related field. Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or another related field desirable. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or working on CPA preferred. Six years of accounting experience with an emphasis in fund accounting or experience in a related field. Supervision of professional accounting staff and higher education experience preferred.
Nature & Purpose of Position:
Performs advanced managerial work supervising, coordinating, and analyzing financial activities and information for the Controller and Assistant Controller.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages the activities financial activities to include accounting control, reconciling, and reporting. Oversees the establishment of goals and objectives of financial accounting and reporting. Oversees and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates policies and procedures and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. Oversees schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations. Monitors reporting requirements and supervises the preparation of various financial reports required by state and federal regulations. Assists in the review of reconciliations of bank and general ledger accounts. Develops and provides instruction to staff for correcting and adjusting entries on all accounts. Assists with recording, reconciling, and managing endowments and Banner related endowment tracking. Assists in the preparation of ad hoc reports as requested for accounting and administrative use. Assists in functional analysis related to upgrades and development of computerized accounting systems. Interviews, hires, and evaluates personnel within the functional area. Coordinates and conducts training for staff and university personnel. Manages programs focusing on continuous process improvement. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
